We met at 13 years old as the 2 new kids in school in Eugene, Oregon. Wandering the forests of the northwest where the evidence of logging is everywhere, we both developed a deep respect for the natural world and became very aware of how development affects it. Since then our friendship has made a circuitous route through Oregon, Washington, California, a band, and many adventures on the road to land in Lake Tahoe in 1996. Working in the trades throughout our youths we witnessed the way in which our natural resources were often squandered. After many a "side job" and years of tradework, in 2003, we started a building company that is today Sierra Sustainable Builders. Since then we have infused all of our projects with our values, creating efficient homes, that reduce the impact of construction through quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, the innovative use of reclaimed and recycled materials, healthy products, and an enjoyable work environment built on respect, and some good humor.
